Green Initiation

My boss introduced me to EWG Healthy living app. It hasn’t been long since I downloaded it and with lot of products to still be updated in it, I thank her. Overall, it is a good start for people who lure around the drugstore for make up and grocery chain.

Ever since I realized that staying vegetarian in US is not as easy as cooking food for myself and staying away from certain food, I began to research the adulteration of chemicals that we apply to skin and animal enzymes in food.  That is when I decided to not just be a Vegetarian, but also be natural. Have to sacrifice lot of comfort food and make up to be close enough to nature. I stopped eating Pizza at most of the chain because the cheese contains rennet. I wasn’t just killing animal to eat it but getting out the enzymes in a cruel and dirty way. According to wiki-the modern method of obtaining rennet is:

Deep-frozen stomachs are milled and put into an enzyme-extracting solution. The crude rennet extract is then activated by adding acid; the enzymes in the stomach are produced in an inactive form and are activated by the stomach acid. The acid is then neutralized and the rennet extract is filtered in several stages.

Whether you understand the chemical names or not, I am definitely not feeling clean about it.

While it is tough to become clean and organic overnight, I recommend at the very least to be aware of what you come in contact with. Be it either a chemical free lipstick or the organic juice, don’t be fooled by just reading the labels. While most of us are aware of certain chemicals, there are other chemicals that hurt you. Just because a product says “organic”, do not be fooled. If you don’t have the time to research its ingenuity, use apps like EWG Healthy living app that tell you level of organic and safe chemicals. Easier for your phone to check rather than use your brain. Once you get hang of it, switching over to organic or at the very least staying close to nature, becomes easy.

As I come across food we considered vegetarian , or vegetarian substitutes for meat outside my comfort zone and affordable natural make up products, I will post it in this blog. It is a complete personal research and experience.
